The Wooden Staff is obtained by crafting a leather strap and a Pole:

Usage
Hold the Wooden Staff to walk around quicker. The Wooden Staff will not work while sprinting.
Future Plans
In a future update staves will no longer require leather strips, but will require resin. They will also receive a buff to the walk speed bonus they provide, which will be changed to 15%.
